My Goals
I aim to enhance my listening skills by focusing on understanding different accents of English. This will involve regularly engaging with various media sources such as films and TV shows from different English-speaking countries, and listen to videos on the Outcomes DVD.
In reading, my objectives are to improve my understanding of English phonetics and phonology through reading Peter Roach's English Phonetics and Phonology and to enhance my reading skills overall by reading a novel. I also aim to expand my vocabulary by engaging with a diverse range of texts.
For my speaking goals, I am focusing on refining my use of English by pronouncing correctly the words comprising 'ð' or 'θ' sound, and I am also aiming to remove the 'r' sound, typical for American pronunciation, from the words' endings.
In writing, I plan to advance my skills by learning how to effectively use participles and prepositional phrases to make formal texts more cohesive. Additionally, I intend to explore informal, artistic types of writing by composing 8 poems throughout the semester.
I will use English in social interactions almost daily in school and home, and in conversations with my colleague Jana. I also aim to actively use English during my classes at the Faculty of Education and participate in faculty forums, enhancing both my academic engagement and social interaction in an English-speaking environment.
