Cities versus Rural Areas

  This written assignment aims at highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of living in peripheries and in urban centres. Essentially, it examines the cost of living and service accessibility in rural and urban areas of the Czech Republic.

   Basically, the cost of living encompasses several factors, including housing prices, utility payments and the cost of goods and services. In rural areas, housing is more affordable, allowing people to buy larger properties at lower costs. Although utility costs vary by provider, services such as hospitality and craftsmanship are generally cheaper than in urban centres. On the other hand, the cost of goods is higher due to a lower offer of services such as shops (as mentioned below). In summary, we can't precisely state, whether the living costs are higher or lower in peripheries, this would need detailed research.

  The other point of comparison - service accessibility - varies significantly between rural and urban areas. Cities offer well developed public transportation networks and a higher number of shops and malls. The number of specialized healthcare facilities is larger in urban centres than in the countryside, and they also offer a wider choice of schools, although admission exams are more difficult to pass due to higher demand. In contrast, craftsmen services are more available and affordable in rural areas, while hospitality services are available in both types of locations. Overall, services are more accessible and affordable in countryside, except for public transportation and healthcare services, which are better developed in cities.

  In conclusion, while urban areas offer better public transportation and more education and health care facilities, rural areas provide more affordable housing and some kinds of services. It is difficult to conclude whether life in the peripheries is more economically convenient than in cities. The overall cost of living and service accessibility is a trade-off which is the result of everyone's needs and personal circumstances.
